The Iranian Gunboat Hoax
I was just reading some articles here and saw some posts accusing the US Navy of fabricating the recent incident with Iranian gunboats. You just have to shake your head at times and wonder.
I believe that during this incident the Iranians themselves released video showing their gunboats in close proximity to US Navy warships. The Iranians themselves made reference to the Gulf of Tonkin incident. THAT fed the conspiracy theorists! The Iranians count on our own folks to do most of their propaganda for them.
The facts of this recent situation that are not in dispute are: Iranian gunboats were in close proximity to US Navy ships, Iranian gunboats dropped items ( boxes I believe ) into the water in the path of the US Navy ships; the Iranians released video of their gunboats that corroborated the video released by the US Navy. What is unexplained is the voice that was recorded by the Navy making threats.
It appears now that this voice is one well known to shipping in the area. It has been heard for some time broadcasting threats and hoaxes. There are two interesting points to consider about this voice. The first is obvious but hasn’t been discussed in any US media ( what a shock) and that is how did this person know that the Iranian gunboats would be in that area at that time and doing what they were doing? If that voice wasn’t in league with the Iranians (or in fact Iranian) then how did he know? Coincidence? C’mon, do you really believe that? Those gunboats were acting threatening at that particular time and that voice broadcasts at the same exact time?
The second point is far more complex and more speculative. If you were a country known for hostile intentions against the US; if you had a history for irrational acts; if you had a history of violence and provocation, wouldn’t it be possible for you to have someone become a mysterious voice broadcasting threats to shipping. Make these broadcasts over an extended time frame, weeks, months, even a few years. Then, after this activity was well known and now pretty much considered a wacko (remember the boy that cried wolf?) you could then begin to initiate incidents like the one with the gunboats. You’d become the gnat pestering the beast. Testing, probing to see what the limits were. And hey, if you get attacked you cry ‘foul’! You bring up the Gulf of Tonkin, you rely on conspiracy theorists and anti-American sentiment to carry your message and repeat it over and over. You know, the more you think about it this theory becomes less speculation and more plausible. Why don’t you conspiracy theorists explore THAT theory a little!?
History often repeats itself. We elect a weak president and a country takes over our embassy and holds our people hostage for how long? Over a year; until the exact day that a strong president is inaugurated. Then they couldn’t release them fast enough! What country was that?
