PETA VS. KFC and the KKK
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) are squawking about a Kentucky legislator’s idea to make fried chicken Kentucky’s official picnic food claiming that the chickens KFC serves are abused and tortured. According to an Associated Press article if the State OKs the designation PETA thinks Kentucky should change its state bird from the cardinal to the debeaked, crippled, scalded, diseased, dead chicken,”
PETA has been in a rumpus with KFC for a couple years that has included demanding it remove a bust of fried chicken magnate Colonel Harland Sanders from the State capitol and accusations of mistreatment of chickens before they are deep fried. This current hullabaloo is the most recent chapter in the ongoing brouhaha between PETA and KFC.
In a 2005 on-line exhibit PETA paired a slave auction with a cattle auction, two hanging black men with a hanging steer, herded Native Americans with herded cattle, a burning black man with a burning chicken, a shackled black ankle with a chained elephant hoof, and a pygmy in a zoo with a monkey in a dress. Most people felt and feel PETA comparing KFC to KKK overreaching bordering on the snooty.
Personally I like KFCs original recipe best.

I worked with a REAL humane society for 14 years. This small organization did more for animal welfare in that short time than PETA and HSUS have EVER done together during their entire existance! Neither of these groups suport real shelters but use their contributors’ donations to bail out dangerous animal NUTS and bad mouth food places and people.

PETA and the HSUS give compassionate, caring animal welfare and animal rights activists a bad name. They have effectively destroyed the true meaning of veganism in the public eye. Both of these acts have led to the crippling of these movements. PETA and the HSUS are hypocritical and utterly counter-productive to the extreme.

Original recipe is great. But, the popcorn chicken is the best.
PETA is a bunch of kookoos. http://www.petakillsanimals.com/
