Planned Parenthood Bilks $180 Million From California Taxpayers.

Don't see the association but it looks goodPlanned Parenthood is a profit making company (with a “non-profit” attached) that gets the majority of its annual revenue by billing federal, state and local taxpayers for such things as birth control pills and abortions. Admittedly its structure is a cleverly convoluted but that’s the bottom-line. In California it’s facing a lawsuit brought by a fired executive who claims, according to the LA Times, it bilked those taxpayers out of $180-million. The former executive says the fraud started in 1990 and continued until at least 2004 and when he blew the whistle he was fired. Virginia has cut all funding to Planned Parenthood, and a federal judge in Mississippi has ordered its funding stopped because it violates that state’s constitution.

Put Your HOV-Carbon Offset Where Only Your Proctologist Will Know.

Perhaps he should read thisCALIFORNIA Sen. Jim Battin plunked down $45 for a “carbon offset sticker” for his barn-sized LINCOLN NAVIGATOR, that measures gasoline use in yardage not mileage (I know - years ago I had one), now wants any vehicle with such an absolution sticker to be able to roar down the “car pool lane” with impunity. To further flip the figurative bird at his critics, Battin issued a press release touting his joy at the thought of allowing “every owner of a polluting, flashy, fuel-sucking car” to use the HOV lane, adding “I feel great about my carbon credit indulgence and think many other Californians will, too, when they are driving guilt-free in the empty diamond lane.” All together now: HYPOCRITE!

HOME SCHOOL OWN CHILD AND GO TO JAIL?

Does the government need to step in moreA California Appeals Court judge says parents who home school their own children but are not credentialed teachers (don’t have a State teaching certificate) could be sent to jail. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger called the ruling “outrageous” and said, “If the courts don’t protect parents’ rights then, as elected officials, we will.” Teacher Unions see the ruling as a victory for their monopoly on California’s miserable public education establishment. 50,000 to 100,000 California children are educated at home and the number is growing as public schools continue to under perform. This one is headed to the Supreme Court.

California spends more per student and gets less results than almost anyplace on earth. Plus, schools are among the most dangerous of places.

TIM RUSSERT ATTACKED BY LEFTWING “MEDIA MATTERS.”

Tim RussertMedia Matters for America is attacking longtime “Meet the Press” host Tim Russert, saying he has “regularly smeared” Democrats on a variety of issues. It says Russert, as the host of Democratic presidential debates, has all but ignored important issues. In its “Weekly Update,” Media Matters list of long list of complaints against Mr. Russert cataloguing what it says has been biasa against Democrats ranging from questioning Dennis Kucinich’s UFO siting to Barack Obama’s endorsement by radical black activist Louis Farrakhan. Thelong report also accuses Russrt of tossing softall questions to conservatives.

Is Arnold The Terminator?

He is the TerminatiorCalifornia Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger owns an Austrian M-47 tank and he’s getting it back from an Ohio museum so he can ‘enjoy it’. Californians say he’ll need it along with asbestos underwear unless he stops acting like a Governor and becomes one. Although he continues to have a 63% approval rating among Republicans his overall job approval has sagged to 45%. His approval rating is lowest in the Greater LA region and highest in the inland area according to a mid-month Survey/USA poll.

Kalifornia’s Kamikazi Konservatives Konvene

We Need HelpRemnants of California’s once proud Reagan Republican Party head to San Francisco this weekend for what some are calling the “telephone booth” semiannual state convention. Attendees will debate a platform critics say is nothing more than rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Perhaps the biggest controversy surrounds party GOP financier Larry Dodge’s refusal to bailout the bankrupt party, and his long list of complaints.

Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will be conspicuously absent. Last September, he said the party was “dying at the box office”and he’s done nothing to revive it since as it continues to bleed nearly 10,000 registered voters a month. Schwarzenegger left the state and went to the National Governors Association meeting in Washington DC.

Billionaire State Insurance Commissioner, and champion of the defeat of Proposition 93 the scheme to extend terms of the current legislature, Steve Poisner will speak and be begged for money to avoid the bill collectors. Poisner is reported to be interested in running to replace a disappointing Schwarzenegger who will “term out” in 2010.

Calderon Speaks to California’s Lameduck Legislaure.

Wrong Presidente!Mexican President Felipe Calderón spoke today before a joint session of the California legislature. He stressed the need for comprehensive immigration reform that is “legal, safe and organized” – whatever that means. Californians are on the front row of the firing line on the immigration issue with every state and local service is being heavily impacted.

The chamber contained most of the “limping” 42 current legislators that voters made lame ducks last week by dumping their scheme to stay in office by “reforming” term limits. Voter rejection of Proposition 93 set off a “gold rush” of assembly member wannabes lining up for Senate seat; Senators eying everything available, and others queuing for the Assembly. The place looks like a stampede at a worm farm right now but when last week sinks in there won’t a long fingernail left.

TAX DOLLARS PAY FOR CONDOM-GRAMS

What are you doing? In an act of HYPOCRISY Planned Parenthood, which receives hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars every year, decided to waste a pile by delivering CONDOM-GRAMS to STATE legislators reminding them to be carefully with sex and the budget. There would be no argument if the symbolism was to remind legislators to stop screwing taxpayers.

BERKELEY’S ‘NUMB NINE’?

What were we thinking?Berkeley, California’s 9-member City Council were “sharply divided” at its February 12, 2008 meeting on whether they should apologize to Marine recruiters earlier deemed “unwelcomed intruders,” says Wednesday’s Sacramento Bee. According to the newspaper the mayor would not back down, and neither would most on the City Council despite attempts by some members to rescind the harsh and controversial language. The Council did vote 7-2 that it has no authority to evict the Marines before the meeting ended in the wee hours.

LOSING THE REAGAN REVOLUTION IN CALIFORNIA

Real Fiscal ConservativesCalifornia’s Republican Party is in disarray and under overt attack by loyalist many of whom who have simply lost faith in its leadership. It is broke – technically bankrupt and in Chapter 7. The man who would have bailed it out with a $3 million check has written a scathing letter demanding change but did not include a check.

Reports that an Australian citizen was hired by its beleaguered chairman to run the party’s day-to-day functions and may not even have legal status have created a firestorm.

Golden State Turns To Tin.

Days of wine and rosesCalifornia tax revenues are continuing to run below budget projections, Controller
John Chiang reported Friday, thus underscoring the state’s twin deficit and cash flow crises. Many project the deficit is far above the $14.5 billion announced and some believe it will exceed $20 billion and maybe much more. This is a fiscal crisis of record proportions.

NAACP and Prop 94-95-96-97

What does it all mean? The Sacramento Bee reports the president of the California NAACP has been paid more than $40,000 in consulting fees — and the NAACP itself has received $60,000 — from the coalition of Indian tribes at the same time the civil rights group has endorsed Propositions 94-95-96-97 pushed by its tribal benefactors.

Money if fungible and flows freely in the Democratic agenda as well as the Republican agenda.

Heads a Win & Tails a Win for “Embarrased” BIA

Yeah, Sure!

Four California Indian casino compacts got “lost” for 80-days triggering an automatic approval without review in 45-days by the Bureau of Indian Affairs as the law requires. It is those once missing compacts that California voters will vote on February 5th as Proposition 94-95-96-97 and would allow tens of thousands of slot machines to be added to the four casinos. The Indian tribes will pay California part of their new profits from the slot machines.

California Fuming, From Dime Bags to Billion Dollar Bags

Prison Lottery in California, You’re in, now you’re out!California public employee unions have their collective underwear in a bunch over Governor Schwarzenegger’s proposed budget cuts to staunch the fiscal hemorrhaging and close a mammoth now $14.5 billion budget gap. For every seven dollars the state takes in it now spends over eight. The budget hole is three and one-half times the size of the $4 billion deficit that provoked then Governor Gray Davis’ recall resulting in the election of Schwarzenegger.

Conservatives are fuming that Schwarzenegger is talking about raising taxes and fees to bail out the state’s bureaucracy saying that will deepen and prolong the state’s coming recession. What is clear, as the officially projected deficit jumped half a billion dollars, is the usual hocus-pocus and slight-of-hand will no longer work.

Schwarzenegger made good on his promise to release as many as 50,000 prison inmates to save cash. Critics predict a wave of crimes will follow that will ultimately cost even more than any savings asking, “If these people aren’t a danger to society why were they imprisoned in the first place? Because some are a danger.”
Saturday’s SACRAMENTO BEEAndy Furillo profiled a heroin dealer, a drunken driver,

No Insurance, Hello Officer, No Plates. But maybe a new candidate.

California Dreaming. Poizner for Gov

An initiative to toughen penalties on California drivers who don’t maintain car insurance was cleared to begin gathering signatures today. Steve Poizner, the state’s insurance commissioner, is the proponent of the measure, which would require police to remove the license plates of vehicles without insurance. Poizner, who sold a cellular company for a billion dollars, is believed to be very interested in running for Governor in 2010 and this is a good idea and political ploy.

California Fiscal State of Emergency

Finances twisting in the storm againAs predicted a few weeks ago California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) declared a “State of Fiscal Emergency” in Tuesday night’s State of the State speech. As expected the Governor said the Golden State either has to raise much more money or cut someplace. He is already shilling for an Indian gaming deal that allows select tribes with thousands more slot machines in exchange for a pittance of their profits albeit $9 billion over ten years.
