Less Affluent Favor Gas Tax Holiday.

According to a rasmussen Poll released Thursday forty-six percent (46%) of America’s Likely Voters favor a federal gas tax holiday this summer. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 42% are opposed and 12% are not sure. Most voters who earn more than $75,000 a year oppose the gas tax holiday. Most who make less than $60,000 a year favor that policy change. Among those make less than $20,000 a year, 62% favor the gas tax holiday while only 11% are opposed.
McCain proposed suspending the 18 cents a gallon federal tax and Hillary supports it. Obama opposes it.
America Headed To Socialism?!?
Alexandre Adler, one of France’s foremost historians and strategic thinkers - often characterized as a French ‘neocon’ - thinks that America is embarked on a path toward a much more ‘Socialist’ future.
Adler implies a watershed will be the 2008 Presidential election and describes Barack Obama’s ideas as an increasingly extensive redistribution by the state including a considerable expansion of government benefits. Adler writes in an article in Le Figaro he expects America’s shift toward socialism to over shadow “Past nationalizations like that under [former French Socialist President Francois] Mitterand [in 1981] will look like small potatoes.”
Adler points to the U. S. takeover and ownership of investment banks as evidence that “the system is finished, given the decline of the dollar and the mistrust of if international fiancial markets, which is what fiancés America’s external budget deficit.”
Adler says factors are emerging and simultaneously coming into play to challenge the way Americans live and produce. Adler is a Francophile and some believe that skews his theory. Nevertheless his point that “Americans, we know, are much less doctrinaire toward themselves than they are toward Latin American, for example” is worth thought.
If he is correct, in even minor measure, you should expect a disorienting swerve left – faster depending upon who occupies the White House next January.Excerpted and edited from a March 29, 2008 article by Alexandre Adler translated by Kate Davis.
NADER IS NO STASSEN - YET.
THAT’S A LOT OF TACOS AND UNION MEMBER DUES
Billionaire financier George Soros is contributing $2.5 million to a new political organization that promotes Democrat Party causes in the 2008 elections. The Fund for America, was organized by Taco Bell heir Rob McKay, former Clinton White House Chief of Staff John Podesta, and Anna Burger of the Service Employees International Union.
The SEIU, which is a major union representing 1.9 million public service workers, nurses, hospital staff, nursing home and home care providers, building services and security guards, used members dues to match Soros’ contribution. Fund for America is expected to air television ads and take other political action designed to help Democrats win the White House and retain control of Congress the New York, Los Angeles Times and Newsmax are reporting.
Cancel Carbon Emissions
FutureGen lost the support of the Bush administration last week because the estimated price tag had doubled to 1.8 Billion. FutureGen is the Energy Department effort with a dozen or so private utility companies from around the the world to develop a prototype plant to burn “clean coal.” Since all non government contributions were set at 400 Million all of the increase would be born directly by the government.
Bad Florida, bad, bad Florida, You Don’t Count
Will Your Congressman Say This to a Lobbyist?
“sorry, my constituents come first. Your clients have helped them get into houses they cannot afford and your clients are going to help them stay there”.
Mortgage Regulators Still Miss the Opportunity of “Homesteading 2008″
Everyone seems to have a plan and non of them are having great impact on the housing problems. That’s mostly because the most intractable part of the problem is that too many houses are overvalued, driven by fog a mirror housing finance that purshed demand for homes beyond the natural real need curve to a speculative demand dynamic and that will not be changed a lot by any plan out there, except possibly this “Homesteaders Act of 2008″
- Change the whole deal and keep all current occupants in the house with a troubled mortgage as follows:
- Before foreclosure modify the mortgage deal to a profit sharing deal “Homesteading Act of 2008) with the owner occupant by lowering rate so all housing finance cost are less that 33% of gross income.
- Foreclose ASAP on non occpant owners and offer financing to the renting occupant as to the
- Laws need to be changed to facilite this and formulas for profit sharing must be determined.
IMMEDIATELY send this or talk about it with you political prepresentatives, I have seen NONE talking about this human solution.
Send it to your press outlets and watch them ignor it.
No Telecomm Immunity; Reid Must Go
Yesterday Harry Reid again brought forward the version of the FISA bill containing a provision for telecom immunity for their criminal complicity in illegal wiretaps of American citizens.
What part of exercising power doesn’t Harry Reid get? The Washington Post reports him “pleading” with the White House. And yet, it is his decision which version of the FISA bill to have the Senate consider, and by choosing to bring forward the bad one, he is knowingly forcing opponents of yet another “get out of jail free card” for Cheney cronies to get 60 votes to strip it out of the bill. Or filibuster yet again.
NAACP and Prop 94-95-96-97
The Sacramento Bee reports the president of the California NAACP has been paid more than $40,000 in consulting fees — and the NAACP itself has received $60,000 — from the coalition of Indian tribes at the same time the civil rights group has endorsed Propositions 94-95-96-97 pushed by its tribal benefactors.
Money if fungible and flows freely in the Democratic agenda as well as the Republican agenda.
“Two Objectives and One Instrument”
By those words the Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke showed the dilemma of the Federal Reserve Open Market Committee charged with these two objectives.
- Maintain price stability, keeping inflation in check.
- Maintaining economic growth.
The one instrument, is the effective rate at which regulated banks lend to each other in over night settlement.
One Quarter of Indiana Voters Records Reported as WRONG
According to a report by David Mann of newsandtibune.com in the fall of 2006, as many as 25% of the registered voters in Indiana “are wrong”. Supporting evidence apparently includes the removal of thousands in two counties alone because they were also registered elsewhere.
Can this be the case across the country? Click Here even if you know or think you are properly registered to vote.

“Health Care Reform Needs Leaders, Not Apologists”
As the U.S. government announced that health care spending topped $2 trillion in 2006, the Colorado General Assembly announced that it will take several years to keep a promise to provide health care coverage to all of the state’s residents.
Talk about a tale of two worlds.
In one live the politicians who break campaign promises to fix a broken health care system. In the other live the rest of us, who face the physical and financial pain of their timidity.

THE CATS AWAY AND THE RATS WILL PLAY.
Amid heaps of hanky-panky fund raising the federal agency in charge of policing the torrent of political spending during the upcoming presidential primaries will, for all practical purposes, shut its doors on New Year’s Eve. Democrats in Congress are blocking the confirmation of President Bush’s nominees to the panel. As a consequence, the FEC will enter 2008 with just two of six members — short of the four votes needed for the commission to take any official action. That unlocks all sorts of abuses that will make Hillary Clinton felon Hsu’s antics look amateurish.
What is Number 42?
Was Bill Clinton the 42nd President of the United States? Yes, but that’s not what this is all about.
Blame & Defense in Mortgage Mess
According to the Shirmeyer Rate Market Report published by Sigma Research Inc, which is a twice daily newsletter to the mortgage lending industry, our regulators and politicians once again have not only failed to foresee and prevent an economic disaster, they have misidentified the causes of the current mortgage mess ravaging us. Regulators and politicians are going for the softest, easiest targets they can find as they try to push the spotlight way from their own neglect. This is an except from a recent Sigma Research Daily
“Once again
Putin Reluctantly Agrees to Become Prime Minister of Russia, whew!
After long months of speculation, the collective fears of the world are at last mitigated.
Contrary to the fears that Putin would simply leave the political scene after he maxed out on legally allowed terms as the Leader of Russia, he was slowly but surely persuaded by public opinion to accept appointment to the positions of Benevolent Dictator and the ceremonial post of Prime Minister. That post was already serendipitously offered to him by his appointee Medvedev who has not yet been elected but who book says, will be the next President of Russia. Why? Because he was hand picked by Putin to run and who will have the authority to name the Prime Minister. Make you dizzy?
