Dueling Sabbaths in Colorado Sports
The COLORADO HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION refuses to change the time of a championship basketball game until after sundown on SATURDAY so a Jewish high school team can play in it. Although CHSAA forbids play on SUNDAY, the Christian Sabbath, it has no such restriction for the JEWISH SABBATH – SHABBAT. CHSAA says the Jewish high school knew this could happen but still joined it.
Shabbat, or the Sabbath, is a day of rest and is celebrated every week from Friday night at sunset until Saturday night at sundown (25 hours). God ordered its observance in the Fourth Commandment, “Six days you shall labor and do all of your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath of God: you shall not do any work.” (Exodus 20:9-10).

A SURVEY/USA poll finds 37% believe CLEMENS and 45% believe MACNAMEE. 56% said if
CLEMENS used performance enhancers he should not be eligible for the Hall of Fame, and 38% say he should. 53% say baseball has about the same problem with performance enhancing drugs as any other sport. 72% say it is VERY IMPORTANT players do not use performance enhancing drugs.
Hypocrisy and the ABB of Super Bowl 42.
The ABB movement (anybody but Boston) had a serendipitous day with hypocrisy in the Super Bowl. Andy Rooney says the team should drop New England and call themselves Boston. We already do.
The Boston team, fans, and everybody calls them Patriots in all manner of media publicly distributed and so well know that the words “Patriots” means the Boston team etc. and so on.
But they are not patriots, who think of the greater good of the whole country. These guys are all about winning for themselves! Now that is hypocrisy.

An asteroid about as big as a basketball court has a 1 in 75 chance of smacking into Mars’ equator while travelling about 8 miles a second on January 30th. If it does it will be similar to the object that hit remote central Siberia in 1908, unleashing energy equivalent to a 15-megaton nuclear bomb and leave a hole the size of the famed Meteor Crater in Arizona. The NASA Mars Rover is in the neck-of-the-woods but will be out of range if the hit occurs.
Rose Bowl War Time Adjustments
DUKE and OREGON played in the 1942 ROSE BOWL on January 1, 1942. But it was NOT in Pasadena but in Durham, North Carolina because people feared that a Japanese invasion of the west coast was imminent following the December 7, 1941attack on Pearl Harbor.
